Run weigh-ins
A weigh-in is just a recorded weight on the wrestler’s event entry. Once it’s saved, the wrestler counts as weighed in, and Snapdown compares the weight to their class limit. Everything happens on the Weigh-ins page in your event’s menu. For where weigh-ins fit in the day, see Run your tournament from weigh-ins to results.
Who can run weigh-ins
Section titled “Who can run weigh-ins”Anyone with the Weigh-In or Admin permission can use the weigh-in page, and so can league administrators on a league event. Volunteers only need Weigh-In. See Add event staff and permissions.
Changing a wrestler’s weight class needs Admin, so keep a director handy for the kids who don’t make weight.
Weigh in early or at another gym
Section titled “Weigh in early or at another gym”There’s no weigh-in date, time, or location to set up. A weight can be recorded any time, from any signed-in phone, tablet, or laptop, and it saves right away. For Friday-night weigh-ins at another gym, add whoever runs that scale as staff ahead of time and have them sign in there. Saturday morning, those wrestlers are already weighed in and the list shows only who’s left.
Saving does need an internet connection. If the gym has no signal, print weigh-in sheets from the print button on the weigh-in page (by team, or by weight class) and type the weights in later. Each sheet has blank rows for walk-ins.
Put the weigh-in times and place in your event rundown so families know where to go. See Configure your event.
Run several scales at once
Section titled “Run several scales at once”Use as many devices as you have scales. Each one saves its own weights.
The lists don’t refresh live, so a device picks up the other scales’ work after its own next save or when you tap refresh. If two scales weigh the same wrestler, the later weight wins. The easy fix is to give each scale its own teams or divisions using the filters at the top of the page.
If your wrestlers have Snapdown profiles, a badge lookup appears at the top of the page. Scan the wrestler’s badge with the camera, type their SNAP ID, or use a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner to jump straight to their weigh-in.
Record a weight
Section titled “Record a weight”Tap a wrestler on Not Weighed In, enter the scale weight, and submit. The dialog shows each class they’re entered in with its maximum (allowance included) and warns if they’re over. Snapdown still saves an over-limit weight and never changes the class on its own; that call is yours. Their earlier weigh-ins are listed too, which helps catch a typo.
To fix a weight, use the wrestler’s ⋮ menu on Weighed In. Removing a weigh-in only undoes it. The wrestler stays in their brackets, so scratch anyone who won’t compete.
Set the weigh-in allowance
Section titled “Set the weigh-in allowance”The class weight is the scratch weight. The allowance is how far over it a wrestler may weigh and still make weight. Enter classes at scratch weight (106, not 108) and let the allowance add the pounds; Snapdown warns if a class already includes it.
The event-wide allowance is under Weigh-In Allowance in Competition
Setup: strict, 0.5, 1, 2, or a custom amount. A division can override it in
Manage Divisions. Blank means “use the event’s,” and 0 means strict. See
Set up divisions and weight classes.
The allowance only drives the over-weight warnings and flags. It never blocks a weigh-in or moves anyone. There’s no date-based growth allowance either; if your rules add pounds later in the season, raise it on each event where it applies.
Two-day tournaments
Section titled “Two-day tournaments”Each wrestler has one weigh-in per event, so a day-2 weight replaces the day-1 weight, and the weighed-in list still counts everyone from day 1. There’s no separate day-2 allowance either.
To give an extra pound on day 2, raise the allowance before day-2 weigh-ins. Since it only affects the warnings, nobody’s bracket changes. Print fresh sheets for the day-2 scale and update the weight for anyone you need to check against the new limit.
A wrestler comes in over
Section titled “A wrestler comes in over”Snapdown flags it in three places: the weigh-in dialog, an “over” badge on Roster, and the Outside weight criteria filter on Brackets.
To bump a wrestler up, a director uses Set Weight Class from the wrestler’s ⋮ menu on Roster. If they’re already in a bracket, Snapdown asks whether to remove them. Leave them in, then use Move to bracket… from the same menu to move them into the heavier bracket. Changing a published bracket works like any other edit; see Change brackets after publishing matches.
If your rules don’t allow moving up, scratch them with the Overweight reason.
Automatic-grouping divisions have no classes to move between. Groups generated after weigh-ins use the real weights. If you generated from registered weights first, Outside weight criteria shows any group whose spread is now too wide. Move the wrestler or generate again; see Choose a matchmaking format and generate matchups.
Wrestlers who miss weigh-ins
Section titled “Wrestlers who miss weigh-ins”Snapdown never scratches anyone for you. A wrestler who didn’t weigh in just stays on Not Weighed In. What that means depends on the division:
- Automatic grouping: once anyone in the division has weighed in, generating uses only weighed-in wrestlers. Wait until that division is done at the scale, or the kids still in line get left out.
- Fixed weight classes: brackets don’t require a weigh-in, so a no-show keeps their spot until you scratch them.
To clear no-shows, scratch them with the No-show reason. A scratch always takes them out of their brackets in the divisions you scratch. You can do this from Roster (see Run your tournament from weigh-ins to results) or with Mark No-Show / Scratch… on the wrestler’s ⋮ menu on the weigh-in page. There, all of their divisions start checked; untick any they’ll still wrestle. For a batch, turn on Bulk Previous Weights, tick the wrestlers, and choose Scratch, which takes each one out of all their divisions. Anyone who has already started or finished a match is skipped; scratch them one at a time from Roster instead (see Withdraw an injured wrestler). Then review any bracket downsizing Snapdown offers; see Build individual weight-class brackets.
The Scratched tab lists wrestlers scratched from every division they entered. Someone scratched from just one division stays on the other lists.
If a scratched wrestler shows up after all, tap them on the Scratched tab and choose Undo & Weigh In. That undoes their most recent scratch, every division it covered. They don’t go back into brackets automatically; see Add a late wrestler after publishing.
Use weigh-in as check-in
Section titled “Use weigh-in as check-in”Some leagues skip the scale and use weigh-in to record who showed up. In the weigh-in dialog, Use profile weight fills in the weight already on file. To check in a whole team at once, turn on Bulk Previous Weights, filter to the team, select all, and choose Use Previous Weight. Anyone with no weight on file has to be weighed individually.
On a league event, the not-weighed-in list also shows wrestlers from the participating teams who aren’t entered yet. Weighing one in adds them to the event in a matching division.
