Understand event-only teams in a league
Section titled “Understand event-only teams in a league”An event-only team changes who a wrestler represents for one league event. It does not transfer the wrestler or edit the league’s permanent team roster.
Use an event-only team when one event needs a different competition structure, such as:
- splitting a large club into Red and Black scoring teams;
- combining wrestlers into an event-specific girls team;
- creating all-star or exhibition teams; or
- using a different team grouping for one dual or sectional.
League team and event-only team
Section titled “League team and event-only team”The league team remains the wrestler’s permanent home. The event-only team is the destination used for this event’s roster, scoring, brackets, results, and team reports.
For example:
| League roster | This event | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Canfield | Canfield Red | Wrestler scores for Canfield Red in this event |
| Canfield | Canfield Black | Wrestler scores for Canfield Black in this event |
After the event, both wrestlers still belong to Canfield in the league.
Create event-only teams during roster import
Section titled “Create event-only teams during roster import”- Open Import Wrestlers from the league event’s roster.
- Download the combined current-league roster.
- Keep each
wrestler_idunchanged. - Change the
teamvalue only for wrestlers who need a different event team. - Upload the workbook.
- Review Event-only team assignments. Snapdown shows the source league team, new event team, and affected wrestler count.
- Approve the event-only teams, then complete the import.
Example:
wrestler_id,team,first_name,last_name,weight_class101,Canfield Red,Alex,Anderson,106102,Canfield Black,Bailey,Brooks,113Creating an event-only team is always a reviewed structural change. Snapdown does not create it until the import file has no blocking errors and you approve the team name.
How the league connection works
Section titled “How the league connection works”When every wrestler assigned to a new event team comes from the same league team, Snapdown retains that source-team connection. This helps event views and statistics understand that Canfield Red came from Canfield.
An event team may also combine wrestlers from several league teams. In that
case, it has no single source team, but each unchanged wrestler_id still
preserves the individual wrestler’s league identity.
What synchronization changes
Section titled “What synchronization changes”Synchronizing a league event can refresh shared wrestler information from the league roster while preserving the event-only team assignment. It does not move the wrestler’s permanent league membership to the event team.
Before approving an event-only team
Section titled “Before approving an event-only team”Confirm that:
- the team name is intentional and spelled consistently;
- the source league team or teams are expected;
- the wrestler count is correct; and
- the workbook still contains the original wrestler IDs.
If Snapdown suggests a similarly named existing team, correct the workbook instead of approving a duplicate unless the new name is intentional.
