Give divisions their own mats

When age groups wrestle at the same time but shouldn’t mix, give each group its own queue and mats. Each mat only pulls bouts from its own queue.

Example: 8U and 10U on Mats 1–2, and 12U and 14U on Mats 3–4.

  1. On Match Publishing, choose Guided plan.

  2. Session: name it Saturday.

  3. Queues: in Queue 1, pick 8U and 10U and Mats 1–2.

  4. Choose Add another queue. In Queue 2, pick 12U and 14U and Mats 3–4. Picking a division that’s already in the other queue moves it here.

Queues step with 8U and 10U on Mats 1–2 in Queue 1, and 12U and 14U on Mats 3–4 in Queue 2

  5. Numbering: choose A range for each queue so a bout’s number tells staff which mat group it belongs to, for example Queue 1 from 1 and Queue 2 from 101. The wizard sizes the ranges from each queue’s projected bouts; change them if you like.

  6. Review: choose Save plan, then Run… it when the mats are ready.

If two queues share a mat, the wizard warns that the mat pulls from both. That’s allowed, but it usually isn’t what you want here.

The same plan scales to big events with dozens of mats and divisions.

  • One queue per mat group. Group divisions that wrestle together, such as 8U on Mats 1–10, 10U on Mats 11–20, and 12U on Mats 21–30. A queue keeps every mat in its group busy.
  • Plan a session in pieces. Several plans can share a session, so one staff member can plan the youth mats and another the high school mats. Put both in session 1. A mat can belong to only one plan per session; the wizard stops you and offers Use session N if you pick a mat that’s taken.
  • Use sessions for waves. Divisions that wrestle later on the same mats go in the next session. See Run morning and afternoon sessions.
  • Keep numbers readable. With A range for each queue, each mat group has its own block of numbers, and later sessions read 2-1, 2-101, and so on.
  • Run in pieces too. Each plan has its own Run…, so you can load one mat group while another is still weighing in.
