Create your league events

Each competition in your league is an event inside the league. Creating one is short because teams, wrestlers, and league defaults already exist.

  1. Open League Admin.
  2. Open Events.
  3. Choose Add Event.
  4. Enter the event name and date.
  5. Choose the event structure: Individual or Team duals.
  6. For an Individual event, choose the starting division setup: Fixed weight classes or Automatic grouping.
  7. Select the league teams participating in this event.
  8. Add venue and contact information if it is useful to families and staff.
  9. Choose Create Event.

The starting division setup and automatic-matchup style begin with the league’s defaults. You can change them during creation and change individual divisions later. For a dual event, lineup weight classes are configured on each dual bracket rather than in the event creator.

The event creator does not ask you to configure mats from scratch. A league event starts with the league’s standard mats, which you can adjust from the event settings afterward.

You cannot add an event after the league’s end date has passed. Update the league dates first if the season has been extended.

A new league event begins with the applicable league configuration, including:

  • the Default division and its match settings;
  • roster and automatic-matchup defaults;
  • standard mats; and
  • the league’s starting individual bracketing preference.

The choice made in the event creator becomes the competition type for the event’s Default division and the starting point for new divisions. It does not lock every division to one type. An Individual event can use fixed weight classes in one division and automatic grouping in another.

See Configure your league.

The Team Selection card chooses the league teams that initially participate. Creating the event synchronizes those teams’ current league wrestlers into the event roster as the eligible pool. That does not mean every synchronized wrestler has to compete.

After the event is created, keep the full-team roster or use the event roster tools to upload a fixed attendance list and remove non-attendees. See Select wrestlers for a league event.

Open an existing event’s action menu from League Admin and choose Create similar event when the next event uses the same operational setup.

Snapdown copies:

  • the event structure;
  • division competition types;
  • matchup defaults;
  • period and scoring settings; and
  • mats.

You still choose the new name, date, teams, venue, registration settings, staff, and branding. This prevents a copied event from accidentally carrying the old attendance list or public details.

You can also use Copy settings and Paste settings into this event when the destination event already exists.

Build the season now or add events as dates settle

Either approach works. Creating the schedule early makes dates visible and lets teams plan. Adding events one at a time avoids corrections while locations and dates are unsettled. Existing events are independent copies, so later changes to a league default do not rewrite them.

Events with different formats in the same league

Section titled “Events with different formats in the same league”

A league can run Individual events, dual events, and championships with a different setup. Inside one Individual event, different divisions may use fixed weight classes or automatic matchups. Nothing about the league forces one competition type.
