Configure your league

League configuration is the starting point for every event in the season. Set the usual roster requirements, competition defaults, branding, and mats once. New events copy those defaults, and event administrators can change an individual event afterward.

Open League Admin, then League Settings.

Use League Administrators to authorize another Snapdown user to manage the league and its events. The audit log on the same card shows administrative changes made inside the league.

League administration is broader than event staffing. A scorer, weigh-in worker, or event-only administrator should be added inside the applicable event instead. See Add event staff and permissions.

Open Branding under League Configuration to set:

  • a league logo, uploaded or generated from a short organizer name;
  • the primary color used for headers, buttons, and accents; and
  • an optional secondary color.

The colors apply to league pages and flow into league events unless an event overrides them. The league logo appears in the league header. A square image is the safest shape for an uploaded logo.

Open Required Fields & Defaults to decide which fields must be present when a wrestler is added to a league team:

  • date of birth;
  • grade;
  • gender;
  • USA Wrestling ID; and
  • rank, using Snapdown’s 1–5 skill scale.

These choices are enforced when new wrestlers are added or imported. Existing wrestlers are not removed when a requirement is turned on, but an incomplete row will be reported when it is imported again.

Rank improves ability-based matching. If rank is optional, Snapdown can still use the other available age, weight, grade, team, and gender criteria.

The same dialog sets defaults used by newly created events:

  • individual bracketing: Automatic grouping or Fixed weight classes;
  • maximum age, grade, weight, and rank differences;
  • whether mixed-gender matches are allowed;
  • whether same-team matches are allowed, discouraged, or disallowed;
  • the preferred automatic matchup generation style and target match count; and
  • match scheduling by bracket clusters or by round.

These are copied into a new event. Changing a league default later does not rewrite events that already exist.

Open Standard Mats to define the mat numbers normally available at league events. New events begin with this set and label them Mat 1, Mat 2, and so on. An event can change its own mats without changing the league default.

The Wrestler Divisions card shows the division setup inherited by league events. Open the division’s menu to edit its settings or its match settings.

At present, league configuration exposes the system Default division rather than a full set of league-level divisions. Inside an event you can add or copy divisions and choose fixed weight classes or automatic grouping for each one.

Import Rosters (Multi-Tab) opens the same league-wide import available from the Teams page. Use it when one workbook contains several teams. See Import league rosters.

Linked leagues make regular crossover events possible without copying the other league’s teams into your permanent roster. League linking is currently an assisted Snapdown administration task rather than a normal League Settings control. Contact support@snapdown.io when two leagues need to be linked.

For a one-time visiting team, use an event-scoped team instead. See Should I create a league or a standalone tournament?.

After setting the defaults:

  1. Add teams to your league.
  2. Import league rosters.
  3. Create your league events.
