Add teams to your league

Teams belong to the league, not to one event. Create a team once, maintain its roster during the season, and select that team when you create each league event.

  1. Open League Admin.
  2. Open Teams.
  3. Choose Add Team.
  4. Enter the team name. Choose Add Another Team if you want to create several teams in the same step.
  5. Choose Submit.

Snapdown checks the names against teams already in the league and against the other names in the form. A team name cannot be repeated with different capitalization or extra spaces.

After creating a team, open its row from the Teams page to manage its roster and team details.

A league team owns:

  • its season roster;
  • its assigned coaches;
  • the team identity used in event entries, results, team scoring, and league reports; and
  • its roster export and edit history.

The roster is not recreated for every event. A team added near the start of the season remains available for later league events, with the same wrestlers and coaches.

A league administrator can maintain every roster from League Admin. Open a team to add one wrestler, import a spreadsheet, download a template, export the current roster, or correct existing wrestlers.

A league administrator can also choose Manage Coaches from the team’s settings. Assigned head and assistant coaches can open their team and maintain its roster without receiving league-wide administration access.

Both approaches use the same league roster. A league can import every team in one workbook, let coaches maintain their own teams, or combine the two.

See Import league rosters for the league-wide spreadsheet workflow.

Do not add every outside team to the season roster automatically.

  • For recurring crossover events, Snapdown can link two leagues so their teams can be used without rebuilding both rosters.
  • For an occasional visitor, add an event team for that competition instead of turning it into a permanent league member.

See Should I create a league or a standalone tournament? for the difference between linked leagues and visiting teams.

A team can field two scoring squads in one event without splitting its league roster. Export the league event roster, keep each wrestler’s wrestler_id, and use the event’s team column to assign names such as Canfield Red and Canfield Black.

Those event-team assignments control scoring and results for that event. The wrestlers still belong to their original league team afterward. See Select wrestlers for a league event.
