Run a tournament series

A tournament series groups standalone tournaments that belong together, such as a fall circuit of open tournaments. The series gets one public page with every stop on its schedule and wrestler leaderboards that add up across the stops.

Use a series when results should accumulate from one stop to the next. Several tournaments that only share a director or a gym do not need one.

Each stop is still a standalone tournament. It keeps its own registration, divisions, pricing, payouts, staff, and brackets. A series does not share rosters or settings between stops, and joining one does not change how a tournament runs or is billed.

The series adds:

  • One public page. The Schedule tab lists upcoming and past stops, shows a tournament under Live Now while it runs, and offers Register for any stop with registration open.
  • Combined leaderboards. The Stats tab ranks wrestlers across every stop: Most Wins, Most Pins, Most Tech Falls, Most Bonus Wins, Fastest Pin, and Most Bouts Wrestled. More Stats adds Most Match Points, Most Takedowns, and Most Nearfall Points.
  • Each wrestler’s series record. Tap a wrestler on a leaderboard to see their record and match history from every stop.
  • Shared branding. A member tournament that has not set its own logo or colors uses the series logo and colors.

Anyone with the link can view the schedule and leaderboards, including families without a Snapdown account.

Only standalone tournaments can join a series. League events cannot, because a league already keeps its own season records. See Should I create a league or a standalone tournament? if you are deciding between the two.

Series stats depend on recognizing the same wrestler at each tournament. Snapdown matches entries by first name, last name, and date of birth.

  • Snapdown Registration collects all three, so registered wrestlers are matched automatically.
  • Wrestlers you import or enter by hand need all three. An entry without a date of birth is left out of series stats.
  • A wrestler whose name or birth date is entered differently at another stop is counted as a different wrestler, and their results are split between the two.
  • If an entry matches more than one existing wrestler, Snapdown does not guess. That entry is left out of series stats until the duplicate is resolved.

Contact Snapdown support to combine a wrestler whose results were split.

  1. Open My Tournaments.
  2. Open the More actions menu at the top of the page and choose Create tournament series.
  3. Enter the Series Name and an optional Description, then choose Create Series.

You become the series owner. Logo, colors, and appearance are set after creation: choose the series in the series filter on My Tournaments, open the series actions menu next to it, and choose Edit followed by the series name.

  1. In My Tournaments, open the options menu on the tournament’s row.
  2. Choose Add to Series, then choose the series.

You must administer both the tournament and the series. An archived series does not accept tournaments.

A tournament’s results appear in the series stats as soon as it joins. To take a tournament out, open the same menu, choose Change Series, then Remove from Series. Its results leave the series stats.

Use the share button on the series page, or choose Share series link from the series actions menu on My Tournaments. The link keeps working if you rename the series.

When you edit a series, the Administrators section lists who can manage it. Administrators can edit the series and add tournaments they run. A director who runs a member tournament can already see the series without being listed.

Only the owner can add or remove administrators, Transfer Ownership, and Archive Series or Restore Series.

  • Wins, pins, tech falls, and bonus wins come from decided bouts at every stop. Byes and double forfeits do not count as wins.
  • Takedowns, nearfall points, and match points come only from bouts scored point by point in Snapdown table scoring. A bout entered with only its final result adds to wins and win types, not to these totals.
  • A series does not calculate points standings from placements or team scores.

Export All Stats on the Stats tab downloads a spreadsheet of every wrestler’s series results, not only the leaders shown on the page. Series administrators can export. Other viewers need Snapdown PRO.

Each stop is priced as a standalone tournament. If you are running several, ask about series pricing on the pricing page.
