Select wrestlers for a league event
A league roster answers who belongs to each team. An event roster answers who is attending this competition, what they weigh or which weight class they will enter, and whether they represent a different team for this event.
League-event imports use wrestler IDs so Snapdown can select existing league members without duplicating them or changing the master roster.
Choose how to build the event roster
Add full teams
Use full-team eligibility when most or all of a team’s current roster can participate. This is useful for recurring league events and duals whose team lineups closely follow the league roster.
When the league roster changes, synchronize the event roster before building competition. Snapdown preserves event-specific information, including an event-scoped team assignment, when refreshing shared wrestler details.
Select a fixed attendance list
Use roster import when coaches have confirmed which wrestlers are attending or when the event needs weights, weight classes, divisions, or event-only team assignments in one reviewable workbook.
- Open Import Wrestlers from the event roster.
- Download the recommended current-league roster.
- Delete wrestlers who are not attending.
- Fill or update the event-specific columns.
- Upload the workbook and review wrestler IDs, teams, divisions, and competition fields before importing.
Do not replace or edit wrestler_id. That value links the event entry to the
existing league wrestler.
Use the event-format recommendation
Snapdown reduces the exported workbook to the information needed for the event format while retaining wrestler IDs.
Weight-class event
The combined roster includes a blank weight-class column:
wrestler_id,team,first_name,last_name,weight_class
101,Canfield,Alex,Anderson,106
For multiple configured divisions, fill the division as well. A single configured division is prefilled.
Auto-matchup or Madison-style event
The recommended roster includes current league weight:
wrestler_id,team,first_name,last_name,weight
101,Canfield,Alex,Anderson,88.4
Review the weight for this event and remove non-attendees. Snapdown can use the wrestler’s existing DOB, grade, gender, and rank from the league roster without repeating those columns in the workbook.
Team dual
The recommended workbook has one tab per team. Each tab retains wrestler IDs and adds the event’s weight-class field. This works as a shared Google Sheet: each coach completes their team tab, then the event director imports the workbook once.
A one-sheet alternative is available when the director maintains every lineup or needs to change event-team assignments.
Mixed or custom event
The roster includes both current weight and blank weight_class fields.
Complete the field appropriate to each wrestler’s event division and review the
preview carefully.
Create event-only teams during import
A league wrestler can represent a different team in one event without being
transferred on the league roster. Edit the team column in the combined event
roster to create this assignment.
For example, Canfield may have 100 wrestlers attending a sectional and need two separate scoring teams:
wrestler_id,team,first_name,last_name,weight_class
101,Canfield Red,Alex,Anderson,106
102,Canfield Black,Bailey,Brooks,113
During preview, Snapdown recognizes that both wrestlers belong to Canfield and offers to create Canfield Red and Canfield Black as event-scoped teams linked to the original league team. After confirmation:
- the wrestler still belongs to Canfield in the league;
- the event roster uses Canfield Red or Canfield Black;
- event scoring and results stay separate for the two event teams; and
- later roster synchronization preserves the event-team assignment.
This can also regroup wrestlers from existing league teams for a girls tournament or another special event. Use clear, unique event-team names and verify the source and wrestler counts shown in the import preview. An event team sourced entirely from one league team retains that parent link. An event team combining wrestlers from several league teams has no single parent link; the wrestler IDs still preserve each member’s original league identity.
Use teams from a linked league
When leagues are linked for an event, wrestler IDs can select eligible members from the linked league as well. Add or authorize the appropriate teams first, then use the current-roster workflow so the import can validate each wrestler’s league scope.
Review before building competition
Confirm that:
- every imported row matched an existing wrestler ID;
- current weights are accurate for auto-matchup events;
- weight classes and divisions are complete where required;
- event-only teams have the intended source team(s) and wrestler count; and
- non-attendees were removed from the workbook.
Make these corrections before generating matchups, dual lineups, or brackets.
