Network allowlist for school and venue IT

Snapdown runs in the browser and talks to a handful of services over normal HTTPS (port 443). On an open network there’s nothing to set up. On a school or district network with a web filter, some of these can be blocked, and the usual symptom is that the app loads but brackets, scores, or sign-in don’t, or live updates stop arriving. Hand this list to the district’s IT staff a few days before the event and test from a scoring device on that network.

These run the app itself. Without them Snapdown won’t work.

Address What it does
*.snapdown.io The app (app.), data, sign-in, live updates and matchup generation (api.), and bout video (video.)
*.supabase.co Photos, logos, and other uploaded files
snapdown.com Help Center and the Ask Snapdown assistant

Keep the asterisk in *.snapdown.io: many filters treat a plain domain as that exact name only.

Live scores and mat queues arrive over a WebSocket to api.snapdown.io. Filters that inspect HTTPS traffic sometimes break WebSockets even when the address is allowed. If pages load but scores only change when you refresh, ask IT to exempt api.snapdown.io from SSL inspection.

Schools filter two ways, and it matters which one you’re up against:

  • School Chromebooks are filtered by the account signed into them, on any network, even your own hotspot.
  • Personal laptops on school or event Wi-Fi are filtered by the network’s DNS (GoGuardian DNS, for GoGuardian schools). That works on whole names, so the allow list needs each address above, not web pages.

Ask IT to add the Required list to the policy for the scoring network or devices. api.snapdown.io points at a supabase.co address, which *.supabase.co already covers for filters that check where a name points.

Needed if people sign in with Google or Apple, or if registration or Pro checkout happens on this network.

Address What it does
accounts.google.com Sign in with Google
appleid.apple.com, appleid.cdn-apple.com Sign in with Apple
*.stripe.com, *.stripe.network Card payments
Address What it does
tile.openstreetmap.org Maps on registration and hometown pages

The iPhone, iPad, and Android apps use the same addresses, plus:

Address What it does
*.capgo.app App updates
api.revenuecat.com In-app Pro purchases
c2sxdni4inlamdmp47zq6htlai0nkvzw.lambda-url.us-east-1.on.aws Matchup generation, only in app versions from before November 2026. Updating the app removes the need.
Apple and Google push services Push notifications (the device’s normal push settings)

Account and registration email comes from noreply@snapdown.io, and support replies from support@snapdown.io. If confirmation emails go missing on school accounts, ask IT to allow mail from snapdown.io.
